One of the great carnivals of world racing kicks off this Saturday with one of the purists' highlights of the Melbourne spring, Caulfield Guineas day.

The cream of Australia's three-year-old milers will battle it out in the main event while the middle-distance weight-for-agers have their final Cox Plate tune-up in the Might And Power and rising star Another Wil gets a huge chance to notch his maiden Group 1 in the Toorak Handicap.

Meanwhile there's big bucks on offer at Rosehill, where the card is headed by the $2 million Hill Stakes, the $1.5 million Alan Brown Stakes, the $500,000 Tapp-Craig and the $500,000 Gloaming Stakes.

In SA the Murray Bridge Gold Cup gets a standalone Saturday spot, while it's Queensland Cup day at Eagle Farm and opening day at Ascot.
